James McCracken, LCSW

James McCracken is a relational psychotherapist and clinical leader dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families heal through secure and responsive relationships. His work integrates Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), with a focus on attachment, trauma recovery, addiction recovery, and the repair of relational injuries.

Throughout his career, James has worked in diverse community and academic settings across the United States, supporting people facing complex trauma, oppression and discrimination, severe mental health challenges, addiction, chronic and terminal illness, and relationship distress. He brings deep experience working with couples in crisis, families navigating disconnection, and individuals seeking relief from long-standing emotional pain.

Prior to private practice, James held a clinical faculty appointment at the UNC School of Medicine (Department of Psychiatry), where he served as therapist, program director, and statewide coordinator in Early Psychosis Intervention services with the OASIS Program. He is the Co-Founder and Clinical Director of North Carolina Therapy Professionals, PLLC, a multi-disciplinary group practice committed to delivering state-of-the-art psychotherapy and supporting the development of clinicians.

An active member of professional communities including ICEEFT and the AEDP Institute, James is deeply invested in training, supervision, and the advancement of emotionally focused and experiential therapies. At the heart of his work is a simple conviction: healing and transformation happen in the context of secure, attuned relationships.
